Washington Free Beacon reporter Elizabeth Harrington said Donald Trump "absolutely" was right to say the media was biased against him during an appearance Thursday on Fox News.
Trump makes the media the frequent source of his barbs on the campaign trail, calling them corrupt and openly in favor of his opponent, Hillary Clinton. Harrington pointed to negative stories about the Clintons that have received comparatively little coverage to those about Trump.
"Absolutely, I think he has an incredible point to make," she said. "Everyone knows the media is biased, and what we've seen with these hacked emails released by WikiLeaks, it just reinforces the fact that we know that the media is willing to work with the Hilary campaign, to give her positive coverage, and you just see it when you tune into the other networks. We have huge bombshell stories about Hillary Clinton, her husband enriching himself through the Clinton Foundation, the FBI investigation ... those get no coverage in the nightly news."
According to a study by the Media Research Center, network news devoted more than twice as much time over the past 12 weeks to controversies about Trump (440 minutes) than Clinton (185 minutes), and 91 percent of total coverage about Trump was negative.
"Throughout this, we've seen the media propping up Donald Trump, giving him a lot of free time, and then all of a sudden when he's the nominee, you see this barrage of attacks," Harrington said.
