Dem Donor Pulls Development Deal After Court Rules Code Violations

Priorities USA donor Irwin Jacobs yanked his proposal to alter a San Diego landmark after a court ruled the city violated regulation when it first approved Jacobs’s plan.

Jacobs’s plan was to construct bridge that would lead traffic to an underground garage to alleviate traffic around San Diego’s Balboa Park. Conservationists opposed the plan, deeming the project would threaten the historic landmark status of the park.

A Superior Court judge tossed out the San Diego City Council’s approval of the project because it deemed the the plan in violation of a city ordinance on historic sites.
