Liberal MSNBC host Chris Matthews praised Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's final debate response when it came to praising his opponent Hillary Clinton and said that he thought it was better than Clinton's.
The final question of the debate was for both candidates to name one positive trait of their opponent that they respected.
Clinton praised Trump's children for their devotion and gave credit to Trump for raising them, as she added that she doesn't agree with much of what Trump says or does.
After her response, Trump responded by saying that Clinton's statement about his children was a very nice "compliment." Trump then praised Clinton as a "fighter."
"I will say this about Hillary. She doesn't quit. She doesn't give up. I respect that. I tell it like it is. She's a fighter. I disagree with much of what she's fighting for. I do disagree with her judgment in many cases, but she does fight hard and she doesn't quit and she doesn't give up. I consider that be a very good trait," Trump said.
Following the debate, Matthews said Clinton's response about Trump's children was very appropriate and that his children are great. However, Matthews went on to say that he thought Trump's compliment of Clinton was better.
"I thought it was even better what he said about her. I thought that was a character salute. When you say someone's a fighter, and you're Donald Trump, that means good person. Strong person. Winner. I think that meant something," Matthews said.
