Former White House green jobs adviser Van Jones tweeted a photo of himself and actor Ben Affleckat a Santa Monica, Calif., fundraiser Monday for Massachusetts Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren.
Warren has faced a firestorm of controversy since it was revealed in April that the American Association of Law Schools directory listed her as a "minority" between 1984 and 1995 based on her slight Cherokee heritage, which she claims to have learned about through her family’s oral history.
The fundraiser was hosted by Affleck and fellow actors Matt Damon and John Krasinski, at the Santa Monica studios of J.J. Abrams' production company, Bad Robot. Tickets to the event cost $1,000 to $2,000.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, attendees at the event, which netted Warren more than $250,000, included Reese Witherspoon, Tobey Maguire, Steven Spielberg, Rob Reiner, Harvey Weinstein and Jeffrey Katzenberg.
More than 60 percent of Warren's first quarter fundraising came from out-of-state donors.
