Dem Rep Supporting Deal Admits It Doesn’t Prevent Iran from Sponsoring Terrorism

August 20, 2015

Democratic Rep. Seth Moulton (Mass.) said the Iran nuclear agreement doesn’t prevent Iran from sponsoring terrorism.

"They have American hostages. They violate human rights on a daily basis," Moulton said. "And they're international sponsors of terrorism, and that's all possible under the deal."

Moulton supports the deal and said the deal is the best option to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

"I think it's the best option that we have on the table to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon," Moulton said. "We can talk all we want about how the deal could be better. I’m not one to say that it's a great deal."

The Associated Press reported that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) would allow Iran to inspect their alleged nuclear work at the Parchin military site. This arrangement was agreed upon in a side deal between Iran and the IAEA. U.S. officials have stated they have been briefed on the details of the side deal but have not yet seen the actual document.

Moulton said Iran is still the United States’ sworn enemy.

"They are still the sworn enemy of the United States and our allies, including Israel and the Middle East," Moulton said.
