Israeli military improves new bunker-buster missile

Israel has developed an improved aircraft-carried missile that can penetrate through several layers of concrete, a weapon that could be used in a future military raid on hardened Iranian nuclear facilities.

Video of the new missile, an improved variant of the MPR-500 guided missile, was disclosed by Israeli Military Industries and first reported by the Tel Aviv news portal Ynetnews on Monday.

According to the report, the projectile can break through double-reinforced concrete walls and floors some 200 millimeters in thickness.

The missile also has an accuracy radius of two to three meters, which can minimize collateral damage.

The missile weighs 250 kilograms and can be deployed on Israeli Air Force jets. A key characteristic is that the projectile does not burst on impact, and recent IMI testing has shown that the missile can penetrate bunkers and deep underground facilities.
