Anthony Weiner, the former Democratic congressman infamous for texting photos of his genitalia to young women, has secured a position at a crisis management public relations firm headed by a top Hillary Clinton campaign bundler.
The New York Post reported that Weiner is joining the board of advisers at MWW p.r. firm, a New Jersey-based firm specializing in crisis communications run by Michael Kempner.
The company said it was "pleased to welcome" Weiner, insisting that he will provide insight into "the workings of Congress and the City of New York."
Weiner represented New York’s 9th congressional district in Congress from 1999 to 2011. The Democratic lawmaker, who is married to longtime Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin, was forced to resign from his position when he was caught sending explicit photos of himself to a 21-year-old college student.
About two years later, Weiner ran for New York City mayor, but his campaign was hindered when news broke that he sent more explicit photos to a 22-year-old under the guise of "Carlos Danger."
Nevertheless, MWW described Weiner as a "brilliant strategist" who will be a "great asset" to the public relations firm.
MWW founder, president and CEO Michael Kempner is a prominent New Jersey Democrat who is listed on Clinton’s website as one of her top bundlers, having raised over $100,000 for the presidential candidate’s campaign since its launch.
In a statement Thursday, MWW claimed that Weiner will not be serving clients directly and will work on projects involving public policy and new business development, not those warranting crisis communications.
"Anthony Weiner is an expert on public policy and will not be expected to service clients directly. As a member of our Board of Advisors, he will be a part time consultant to the agency, primarily focused on policy matters and new business development," the company said.
