White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders slammed the article of impeachment introduced Wednesday against President Donald Trump as "utterly and completely ridiculous."
Rep. Brad Sherman (D., Calif.) introduced House Resolution 438 on Wednesday with co-sponsor Rep. Al Green (D., Texas), calling for Trump's impeachment for obstruction of justice related to the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
"I am introducing Articles of Impeachment to begin a long process to protect our country from abuse of power, obstruction of justice, and impulsive, ignorant incompetence," Sherman said in a statement.
At Wednesday's off-camera White House briefing, a reporter asked Sanders for her response.
"I think that is utterly and completely ridiculous and a political game at its worst," she said.
She ended the briefing there.
