President Donald Trump attacked Hillary Clinton's excuses for losing the 2016 presidential election in a series of tweets Tuesday night.
"FBI Director [James] Comey was the best thing that ever happened to Hillary Clinton in that he gave her a free pass for many bad deeds! The phony Trump/Russia story was an excuse used by the Democrats as justification for losing the election. Perhaps Trump just ran a great campaign?" Trump wrote in a series of tweets.

The comments came after Clinton stated Tuesday that she was on her way to becoming the 45th president until FBI Director James Comey released a letter announcing the reopening of the investigation into Clinton's private email server.
"I was on the way to winning until the combination of Jim Comey's letter on Oct. 28 and Russian WikiLeaks raised doubts in the minds of people who were inclined to vote for me but got scared off," Clinton said at the Women for Women International convention on Tuesday.
"If the election had been on Oct. 27, I'd be your president," she added.
Trump was not alone in criticizing Clinton for blaming others for her election loss. MSNBC host Joe Scarborough called the list of excuses "pathetic."
Former Obama administration official David Axelrod also criticized her remarks on CNN, stating, "Jim Comey didn't tell her not to campaign in Wisconsin after the convention. Jim Comey didn't say, 'Don't put any resources into Michigan until the final week of the campaign.'"
