House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) will have dinner with President Donald Trump at the White House on Wednesday night.
The trio will discuss the Dream Act, which would provide legal protections for illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. as minors, as well as efforts to stabilize Obamacare and fiscal deadlines slated for December, Politico reported.
"It's a continuation of what we should do in December and we're going to work very hard to get him to be for Dreamers and straightening out health care," Schumer said at the Capitol on Wednesday morning.
Asked whether Trump's dealmaking with him angered Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.), Schumer said, "He asked us. We're going. Those are our two issues."
The dinner follows recent overtures Trump has made to Democrats, including a debt limit deal he struck with Pelosi and Schumer and a dinner with red-state Democrats to discuss tax reform.
