For the second time in two days, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump appeared together on stage Thursday, this time for the Alfred E. Smith Dinner in New York City.
The dinner is a tradition in American politics as both major party nominees always show up, sit next to the Roman Catholic Archbishop of New York, and tell jokes.
In 2016, however, the dinner did not go so well.
The Al Smith Dinner is known for being more light-hearted, especially in the midst of tense campaigns and a chance for the candidates to joke around and show their less serious side.
First Trump took the podium, sounding more political than comical. At points during his speech boos were heard coming from the crowd as he became more serious and political attacking Clinton.
Toward the beginning of Trump's speech, he joked about meeting Clinton backstage before the dinner.
"Just before taking the dais, Hillary accidentally bumped into me and very civilly said, 'Pardon me,' and I very politely replied, 'Let me talk to you about that after I get into office.'"
After Trump, it was Clinton's turn. Her speech also did not go smoothly, drawing a lot of awkward stares from those in attendance.
Clinton took a jab at the talk about her health and paid speeches to Wall Street firms.
"This is such a special event that I took a break from my rigorous nap schedule to be here, and as you've already heard, it's a treat for all of you too because, usually, I charge a lot for speeches like this," Clinton said.
