Much has been written about the similarities between populist demagogue Donald Trump and populist demagogue Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.). Now, a Free Beacon SuperCut reveals striking similarities between Trump and fellow progressive Barack Obama.
Before it became politically expedient for Trump to become pro-life, he held pro-choice views identical to those of Obama. Their support for late-term and partial-birth abortion (where the baby is partially delivered in the breech position, then killed by piercing the skull and suctioning out the brains) put them well outside the mainstream of American public opinion.
But the similarities don’t end there. As this SuperCut reveals, Trump has at various times called for a national health care system, a retreat from Iraq and the world, tax hikes on the rich, and lavish infrastructure spending—precisely the proposals put forward by President Obama.

DONALD TRUMP: I’m really rich.
SINGLE-PAYER
OBAMA: Single-payer health care plan, a universal health care plan. That’s what I’d like to see.
TRUMP: As far as single-payer, it works in Canada, it works incredibly well in Scotland.
LATE-TERM ABORTION
OBAMA: I am pro-choice.
REPORTER: In all situations, including the late-term thing?
OBAMA: I am pro-choice.
TRUMP: I am pro-choice in every respect and as far as it goes.
ABANDONING IRAQ
OBAMA: We have to turn the page on this disaster in Iraq and restore our standing in the world.
TRUMP: The war is a total disaster. Perhaps even worse, the rest of the world hates us.
OBAMA: It is time to put an end to this war.
TRUMP: Declare victory and leave.
AMERICA’S ROLE
OBAMA: America is not the world’s policeman.
TRUMP: We’re going to have to stop being the policeman of the world.
TAX HIKES
OBAMA: You’ve got to pay your fair share. You’ve got to pony up some.
TRUMP: Some people, they’re not doing their fair share. The hedge fund guys have to pay up.

OBAMA: We have to upgrade America’s crumbling infrastructure, its roads and bridges.
TRUMP: Our roads are crumbling. Our airports are third world.
