White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer told a reporter on Thursday that "it is fair to assume" an older man would not need maternity coverage in his health insurance plan.
RealClearPolitics correspondent Alexis Simendinger suggested to Spicer during the White House press briefing that many people buy insurance not knowing what type of coverage they will need.
"Well, I think if you're an older man, you can generally say that you're not going to need maternity care," Spicer quipped in response.
"That's possible," Simendinger responded before proceeding with her question.
The two were discussing the House Republican bill to replace Obamacare, which President Donald Trump supports.
