Schwarzenegger to Americans: 'Stop Whining' About Trump

December 15, 2016

Arnold Schwarzenegger has changed his tune on Donald Trump, telling NBC host Matt Lauer on Thursday that Americans need to "stop whining" about the president-elect's victory and come together as a nation.

Schwarzenegger, a Republican and the former governor of California, had previously spoken out against Trump during the presidential campaign. Following the leak of the now infamous Hollywood Access tape in which Trump made lewd comments about woman, Schwarzenegger tweeted a statement denouncing the Republican candidate.

"For the first time since I became a citizen in 1983, I will not vote for the Republican candidate for president," Schwarzenegger's statement read in part.

On Thursday, however, the former bodybuilding champion said the country needs to support its incoming president.

Lauer asked Schwarzenegger on "Today" what had caused his change of heart.

"Now he's elected, and now it is very important that we all come together and we stop whining and it becomes one nation," Schwarzenegger said. "As Obama said many years ago, it's not blue states and red states; it's the United States of America."

Lauer also pressed the actor on Trump continuing to be listed in the credits of "Celebrity Apprentice" as a producer.

"I think it's perfectly fine that he has executive producer credit because he created the show with Mark Burnett together, so why should his credit go?" Schwarzenegger said.
