House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) joined MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Wednesday to discuss the Democratic lawmakers' behavior during President Donald Trump's address.
"I was very proud of the dignity with which our members listened to a speech," Pelosi said.
Pelosi went on to say that it was a "bait and switch" speech, and that "the president talks a good talk."
"Three months since he's been elected, forty-one days since he has been president," she said. "We're legislators, so if you want talk, show us your proposal and we'll go from there."
Pelosi shook her head in silence many times throughout Trump's speech.
Representative Maxine Waters (D., Calif.) did not attend the Trump's speech as a sign of protest, according to the New York Times. Other signs of silent protest consisted of Democratic women, including Pelosi, wearing white in the audience to honor the suffragette movement, as well as Democrats along the aisle who refused to shake Trump's hand.
