House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) while speaking at the Center for American Progress on Tuesday accused Attorney General Jeff Sessions of violating his recusal to the Russia investigation.
"There is so much evidence – I myself do not think that the Attorney General should be the Attorney General. He's already violated the recusal," Pelosi said.
It was reported last week that Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein expressed their concerns about Comey and his handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation in written memos to Trump, according to CNN.
This sparked outrage from Democrats. Because Comey was leading the FBI investigation into possible collusion between Russia and then-candidate Trump's campaign staff, Democrats argued Sessions could not legally make a recommendation about Comey because the attorney general had previously recused himself from Russia investigation.
Sessions recused himself from the Russia investigation back in March after it was reported that he met with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak two times, but did not disclose the meetings to the Senate during his confirmation hearing.
