Obama Declares America to be 'Great Right Now,' Hillary Clinton Disagrees

September 16, 2015

President Obama declared the United States of America to be "winning" and "great" Wednesday, but his former secretary of state and potential successor Hillary Clinton disagrees.

At her speech during the first relaunch of her campaign in June, Clinton said the following:

You see corporations making record profits, with CEOs making record pay, but your paychecks have barely budged.

While many of you are working multiple jobs to make ends meet, you see the top 25 hedge fund managers making more than all of America's kindergarten teachers combined. And, often paying a lower tax rate.

So, you have to wonder: "When does my hard work pay off? When does my family get ahead?"

Clinton also condemned the state of the U.S. political system during her address.

"Our political system is so paralyzed by gridlock and dysfunction that most Americans have lost confidence that anything can actually get done," she said. "And they've lost trust in the ability of both government and big business to change course."

In the same interview with ABC's David Muir where she apologized for her use of a private email server, Clinton took a veiled shot at Obama by saying she wanted to fight for people like her mother "who need somebody in their corner, and they need a leader who cares about them again."

Obama said Wednesday that current presidential candidates do not appreciate the steps the country has taken under him while they made "gloom and doom" proclamations about the state of the union.

"Now, you wouldn’t know any of this if you were listening to the folks who were seeking this office that I occupy," Obama said. "In the echo chamber that is presidential politics, everything is dark and everything is terrible. They don’t seem to offer many solutions for the disasters that they perceive, but they’re quick to tell you who to blame."
