Democratic National Committee chairman Tom Perez mocked White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus over Twitter on Friday for alleged ties to Russia, despite the Trump administration tapping a Putin critic for a top role on the National Security Council.

President Donald Trump selected Fiona Hill, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, to be the top Russia adviser on the National Security Council. Some critics are seeing this decision as the Trump administration shifting its attitude toward Russia. Hill has not yet confirmed whether she has accepted the appointment.

Perez took to Twitter to express his criticism of the Trump administration, retweeting Priebus mentioning that Trump's weekly address to the nation will be at 11 AM on Saturday.

Democrats have been attacking the Trump administration and Congressional Republicans over alleged ties to Russia, and have not strayed from this topic since it was revealed on Wednesday evening that Attorney General Jeff Sessions had meetings with the Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the 2016 election.

Trump fired back the allegations on Friday with a Tweet showing Sen. Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) and the Russian ambassador together.

Perez was picked by DNC leadership to be the new chairman on February 25. Priebus was the chairman of the Republican National Committee before his current position in the White House.
