NBC Political Editor: Clinton Foundation Scandal 'Not Going Away'

February 26, 2015

The Clinton Foundation continues to be problematic for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign run.

The Washington Post first broke the story that foreign nations have donated millions of dollars to the Clinton Foundation. Many of these countries, including Kuwait, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, have complicated diplomatic relationships with the United States.

Later, it reported that many countries and corporations that donated large sums of money were lobbying the State Department when Hillary Clinton served as Secretary of State.

In the most recent report, the Clinton Foundation violated ethics rules imposed on Clinton by President Obama when the foundation accepted $500,000 from Algeria while Clinton was Secretary of State.

"Obviously there are going to be critics of Hillary Clinton who are going to say that the Clinton Foundation serves as a way for foreign nationals or others who can't give to her directly to curry favor with her at the time that she was Secretary of State and going forward," said NBC political editor Carrie Dann. "I don't think this story is going to go away from her at all on that front."

It does not appear that the stories coming from the Clinton Foundation will end any time soon. Instead, the first reports have sprung a full-fledged media investigation into the incoming funds of the foundation.
