Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski appeared worried Tuesday that Donald Trump would end up coming out ahead after Monday night’s presidential debate.
Host Joe Scarborough asked Brzezinski, a Hillary Clinton supporter, if she thought Trump’s interruptions of Clinton during the debate would end up helping him.
"My overall gut feeling from watching the entire debate: She was amazing, she was really good," Brzezinski said of Clinton’s performance.
She was skeptical if it would translate into better poll numbers for Clinton, though.
"I just think that he’s going to do quite well out of this," Brzezinski said of Trump. "I know what is appealing to the American people that follow him. Not just his movement but others who are sick of what has happened the past few decades. He got in some things in there that make you go, ‘yeah, exactly.’"
Trump and Clinton will face off next on Oct. 9 at Washington University in St. Louis. Clinton held a wide lead in the polls in early August, but Trump has essentially tied the race with six weeks to go until Election Day.
