Several media outlets labeled Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch as a conservative with "far-right positions" following the high court's latest series of rulings on Monday, while liberals and journalists decried his views as dangerous.

Social media erupted with outage at President Donald Trump's Supreme Court pick after the court ruled on six cases on Monday. The case that made the most headlines was the ruling on Trump's travel ban, which temporarily bars some citizens of six Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States over terrorism concerns.

The court ruled that the executive order can go into effect for foreign nationals without a "bona fide relationship with any person or entity in the United States," but left the travel ban against citizens of the six countries on hold as applied to non-citizens with relationships with persons or entities in the U.S.

The court will hear oral arguments for the case in the fall.

After Monday's decisions were publicized, media outlets and journalists were quick to highlight and criticize Gorsuch's conservative beliefs, frequently comparing him to fellow Justice Clarence Thomas.

The press did not appear to make similar observations about Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Ruth Bater Ginsburg for holding liberal views shortly after they joined the Supreme Court.
