Harrington: 'A Lot of Hope' for Corporate Tax Reform With Trump as President

Washington Free Beacon reporter Elizabeth Harrington joined Fox Business host Neil Cavuto on Thursday to discuss the future of tax reform.

During the conversation, Harrington explained what has slowed the process of passing tax reform in Congress.

"Democrats should take some blame here, too, because they've really slowed down the confirmation process. Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin is the slowest confirmed treasury secretary in U.S. history," Harrington said. "So that is incredible to think and it is no wonder why tax reform is getting pushed back, and it's not going to be until August."

"Mnuchin also has advisers that have to be confirmed by the Senate, and I'm sure they're going to take their time there as well," Harrington added.

She went on to discuss why there is hope that corporate tax reform will still be passed.

"I think there still is a lot of hope because President Trump is a businessman," Harrington said. "He's meeting with these CEOs. He wants to get things done, and there's lots of good climate for getting the corporate tax rate down."

Mnuchin told CNBC on Thursday that he is committed to move on "very significant" tax reform before the August congressional recess.
