Rep. Raul Grijalva (D., Ariz.) told MSNBC’s Tamron Hall on Tuesday that Hillary Clinton should get rid of the Clinton Foundation due to the controversy it has caused her campaign.
Grijalva spoke with Hall about the recent controversy surrounding the Clinton Foundation and recently released emails showing overlapping interests between the foundation and Clinton’s State Department. Hall asked if Clinton’s poll numbers were suffering because of the foundation, citing the blurred lines between the family charity and the State Department while Clinton was secretary of state.
"Do you believe it is time for them to do something different?" Hall asked.
"Yeah, I do and I think that there is a lot at stake in this election, and I think if anybody knows that it is Secretary Clinton," Grijalva said. "We have got to get rid of extraneous issues, and if this foundation is an extraneous issue that goes to the heart of whether it’s trust or transparency, then get rid of it."
Tamron acknowledged the significance of the statement, saying, "We heard very few supporters of Hillary Clinton and especially Democrats in office say that."
