Finney Falsely Claims Clinton Had No Classified Info on Private Server

July 1, 2015

On Wednesday, Hillary for America spokeswoman Karen Finney repeated the false contention that presidential candidate and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton did not send classified information through her private email address.

"We’ve made it very clear that in these 55,000 pages, you're not seeing someone who was communicating classified information," Finney told MSNBC’s Richard Lui, adding that the emails from her secret server were "mundane."

Earlier Wednesday, New York Times reporter Michael Schmidt revealed that the State Department had retroactively classified two-dozen of Hillary’s emails.

"The State Department went back and classified about two-dozen of her emails, saying that information in them was now classified," Schmidt said. "They said it wasn’t classified at the time but had to be redacted in the emails."

Clinton has categorically denied sending classified information through her private email, an illegal act.

"I’m certainly well aware of the classification requirements and did not send classified material," Clinton said in March.

This claim is refuted by the retroactive classification of Clinton's emails.

If foreign intelligence services cracked Hillary’s unsecure private server prior to its deletion, as security experts fear, they could have access to now-classified information.
