The Clinton campaign is off to a slow start.
From a book tour last year that garnered little interest, to infighting between aides seeking to further their personal careers, to the revelations of foreign donations to the Clinton Foundation, Hillary Clinton cannot catch a break.
"The actual attack about the Clinton Global finances is a real one," Ezra Klein said.
It can be difficult to find new lines of attack on the Clintons. The family has been around Washington, D.C., for so long that none of their policy positions are surprising. Having a known entity means that opponents will have to look for changing circumstances, and Ezra Klein said he thinks they have found one.
"The money Bill Clinton has raised from donors ranging from folks in foreign government to large corporate donors and both his and Hillary Clinton's speaking fees, and I think when you look at what is likely to be dredged up, when you look at the things that are likely to provide new scandals or tough headlines for them, their policy positions are so well-known and personas so well-known, I think it's the changes in their finances over the last eight or so years are going to provide a lot of grist in the coming election."
It is yet to be seen whether Clinton can stop "the slow roll of concerning headlines" Robert Gibbs referred to. If she can, it will require a detailed explanation of her shady finances.
