On Monday night, the Free Beacon’s Ellison Barber went on Fox News with Megyn Kelly to discuss Rep. Gohmert and Rep. Yoho challenge to Speaker John Boehner’s position.
Barber reported that staffers believe they now have 20 no votes against Boehner. That figure, however, would not be enough to force a second vote.
"The problem is they need about 30, Barber said. "Just under 30 actually to force the vote to a second ballot."
A second ballot would send a significant message to Speaker Boehner and the rest of the GOP establishment because it has not happened since 1923.
While Boehner’s team believes he will remain Speaker, Barber said, "It would be a big deal if they actually did force it to a second ballot. I think that's something Boehner's team wants to avoid…They said to me we feel confident but I keep saying Eric Cantor was confident the morning of his primary and look what happened there. They're taking this seriously."
