National Journal’s Ron Fournier and AP’s Julie Pace weighed in on Democratic Kentucky Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes’ Iron Dome gaffe during an appearance on CNN’s New Day.
"The Iron Dome has been a big reason why Israel has been able to withstand the terrorists that have tried to tunnel their way in," Grimes was quoted as saying.
Fournier argued this gaffe shows she has an "authenticity problem."
Pace agreed with Fournier saying, "When it comes to the Israeli-Palestinian debate, your language is going to be parsed constantly. You have to be so careful with what you say and it's a really complicated issue. Experience has been one of the things that McConnell's campaign has been going after with her, and this might play into that."
According to the latest polling Sen. Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) has a two-point lead over Grimes.
