Book: Schumer Coached Hillary Opponent Lazio

Weekly Standard editor Daniel Halper's new book, Clinton, Inc., reports that Sen. Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) secretly worked against Hillary Clinton during her 2000 Senate race, fearing that she would outshine him should she win.

According to Halper, Schumer coached Clinton's Republican challenger Rick Lazio in an attempt to sabotage Clinton's campaign.

Halper's book will be published July 22, but was leaked to journalists over the weekend by a mysterious individual named "Robert Josef Wright," who some believe to have been a Clinton ally attempting to upset the book's release--and instead, perhaps unintentionally aiding it.

The book is already debuting to praise, with the Daily Beast's Lloyd Grove calling it "juicy and gossipy, yet scrupulously researched."
