The FBI said Friday that it is investigating the San Bernardino, California gun attack as an act of terrorism.

USA Today first reported the news, which came hours after revelations that one of the two suspected attackers, Tashfeen Malik, pledged allegiance to Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi on social media during the time of the shooting.

The FBI’s counterterrorism division began probing Wednesday’s deadly shooting at a holiday party after finding evidence that the other suspect, Syed Rizwan Farook, had contact with Islamic extremists and had traveled to the Middle East on multiple occasions.

The shooting at the Inland Regional Center killed at least 14 people and left 21 others injured.

Authorities found a dozen homemade pipe bombs and thousands of rounds of ammunition at the Redlands home of the suspects, who were husband and wife. Both suspects were killed in a shootout with police Wednesday.
