European Council President Donald Tusk on Wednesday castigated President Donald Trump and the actions he's taken to withdraw from both the Paris Climate Agreement and Iran nuclear deal, saying, "with friends like that who needs enemies?"
Tusk, a long-time critic of Trump, said the European Union needed to be united to face "a new phenomenon - the capricious assertiveness of the American administration."
"Looking at latest decisions of @realDonaldTrump someone could even think: with friends like that who needs enemies. But frankly, EU should be grateful," Tusk tweeted. "Thanks to him we got rid of all illusions. We realise that if you need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of your arm."

Tusk is leading a E.U. summit Wednesday night to try to tackle trans-Atlantic issues with the Trump administration, which includes a threat to impose punitive trade sanctions on the 28-nation E.U, the New York Times reports.
Tusk pled Trump not to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement and "change the (political) climate for the worse." Trump ultimately withdrew last June, but he has since signaled the United States might rejoin the agreement.
