Cash Cures Everything for Quinn in NYC Mayoral Race

Film director Brett Ratner has come out as a major financial supporter for New York City’s openly gay mayoral candidate Christine Quinn, who has welcomed him with open arms despite his rocky history with the gay community.

Ratner proclaimed in a press interview for his box-office flub Tower Heist that "rehearsal is for fags."

This was not Ratner's only misstep while promoting the film.

He announced in the same week he uttered the gay slur that he had slept with actress Olivia Munn before she was "Asian." He later had to admit that the claim was a complete lie.

Many in the gay community were understandably unwilling to accept Ratner’s attempt at an apology in which Ratner posed the point that everyone who knows him "knows that I don't have a prejudiced bone in my body."

"Maybe your bones aren't prejudiced, but your mouth seems to be, and that's a serious problem for which you need help," wrote actor Jeffery Self of Huffington Post’s Gay Voices page. "I don't think you get to say a word like that and expect us to let it go."

Ratner was forced to resign his position as producer of the 84th Academy Awards

Ratner has raised $28,400 for Quinn's campaign as a bundler. She decided his apology was good enough for her despite just meeting Ratner last spring.

"He didn’t just talk the talk of an apology; he walked the walk of an apology," Quinn told the New York Post.
