• He's a Republican. He's popular. There's even a chance he could prevent Donald Trump from winning the GOP presidential nomination in 2024, which would be bad for ratings.
• They need Trump to run again. It's the only way to satisfy their depraved masochistic yearnings for psychological torment and emotional abuse.
• Reporters and pundits are desperate to weaken DeSantis by covering Hurricane Ian like it is Hurricane Katrina. It's not going very well. The media's anti-DeSantis crusade hit a new low on Monday with the publication of what some are calling "the stupidest fucking thing" the Politico news blog has ever published.
Holy crap: The blog post by Politico's Matt Dixon suggests DeSantis is a hypocrite because he criticizes President Joe Biden's policies but doesn't complain when Florida gets emergency relief funding from the federal government that Biden controls. (Yes, it really is that stupid.)
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Gov. Ron DeSantis has been a persistent critic of President Joe Biden on nearly every policy front as he moves toward a likely potential 2024 presidential bid. But the Florida Republican likes one thing about the president: his wallet.
Dixon goes on to quote a Democratic state lawmaker who suggests the governor's criticism of Biden is "politically motivated." The next paragraph explains that "All governors ask the federal government for assistance after a major natural disaster, regardless of who is in the White House."
You don't say.
The big picture: Remember when the media reported on all the hypocritical Democrats who criticized Trump but didn't complain when the federal government funded their priorities? No? That's because our nation's journalists were too busy cheering on a Democratic governor, Andrew Cuomo, who eventually resigned in disgrace over a barrage of sexual harassment allegations.
The bigger picture: It's almost as if journalists treat Republicans and Democrats differently.
