The Israel Defense Forces on Monday freed two hostages from the hands of Hamas terrorists in the southern Gazan city of Rafah.

Fernando Marman, 60, and Louis Har, 70, embraced family members at Israel's Sheba Medical Center as the two reunited with their loved ones, video from the IDF showed.

The IDF rescued the two men from a civilian building, military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said on X.

"This rescue mission underscores the importance of our ground operation in Gaza," said Hagari. "We have a moral obligation to bring all our hostages home, an obligation that we will continue doing everything in our power to fulfill."

Troops breached the building with explosives as the two men were sleeping, relatives, along with another another military spokesman, told Reuters. One family member said the men, who are also Argentinian nationals, were slightly thin, pale, and frail but in good condition, overall. Airstrikes that accompanied the operation killed 67 people, according to Gaza's Hamas-run health authorities.

Israel is preparing to launch a larger operation in Rafah, but President Joe Biden's administration has forcefully cautioned against it, given that over a million Gazan civilians have taken shelter there as Israel has moved through the enclave.

Marman and Har's rescue comes days after Israel said that a fifth of the remaining hostages in Gaza are dead, with many killed during the Oct. 7 attacks in which the terrorists first abducted them from sites in southern Israel.
