Halperin & Heilemann: Another Bad Week for Hillary Clinton

May 1, 2015

The headlines this week have not been full of good news for Hillary Clinton. Politico reported that the Clinton Foundation is in a "tailspin," the Boston Globe reported that the foundation had insufficient donor disclosure, and the author of the book Clinton Cash received a lot of media attention. The foundation has remained silent and Hillary has been touting her speech at Columbia University on Wednesday.

On Bloomberg TV’s With All Due Respect, John Heilemann asked Mark Halperin, his co-host, whether Clinton had a good week or a bad week. Halperin said that Hillary’s speech was a good for her but the Clinton Cash scandal would not be going away anytime soon.

The Boston Globe reported that for four years, including the time that Hillary served as secretary of state, the foundation did not disclose any foreign donors or the amount of money that was given to the foundation. Heilemann called it the most "egregious flaunting" of the agreement that was made with the Obama administration.

"We are seeing poll after poll now that shows that American voters across the spectrum, especially Independent voters, see her as untrustworthy," said Heilemann. "That’s a huge problem with her getting elected."

Halperin said that voters are willing to listen to other candidates and are giving Sanders a look. Halperin pointed out that Sanders had a strong announcement speech and raised over one million dollars within the first 24 hours of his announcement.
