A North Carolina man shot his father in self defense while he was being threatened with a running chainsaw last week.
Seth Harwood, 20, shot his father, Stanley Harwood, multiple times in their Stanly County home in the early hours of Dec. 27, WBTV reports. Police told local reporters that the altercation began as a physical fight between father and son. At some point during that fight the father gained access to a chainsaw.
The father then started the chainsaw and threatened the son with it. It was at that point that the son shot him. The father reportedly died at the scene. His body was sent for an autopsy.
There was no report on where the son obtained the firearm. Police did tell reporters that while they are still investigating the incident, no charges have been filed.
