Former vice president Joe Biden said he will win the South Carolina primary days after denying that the state was his campaign's "firewall."
"I intend to win South Carolina, and I will win the African-American vote here in South Carolina," Biden said during Tuesday night's debate.
CBS debate moderator Gayle King brought up the topic to inquire about Biden's plans after Saturday's primary.
"Mr. Biden, will you continue if you do not win South Carolina? You have said that South Carolina will determine the outcome of this presidential race. If you don't win South Carolina, will you continue in this race?" she asked.
"I will win South Carolina," Biden responded.
Last weekend, Biden denied saying South Carolina was his firewall, despite having NBC News in February that "I think I have a real firewall in South Carolina."
"And then we go into the Super Tuesday states that have a significant number of minorities and African Americans," he added.
