The Washington Free Beacon's Ellison Barber reacted Wednesday to polling showing a large majority of Americans believe IRS emails involved in the conservative targeting scandal were deliberately destroyed, saying she wasn't surprised because of the truly suspicious circumstances.
A whopping 76 percent of respondents in a Fox News poll, including 63 percent of self-described Democrats and 74 percent of independents, don't believe the agency's story about accidentally losing Lois Lerner's emails in a crash and never getting them back.
"The questions surrounding the email have defied logic," Barber said. "They said actually we lost six months of her emails as well as staffers surrounding her. That in itself was suspicious. It was suspicious that the IRS didn't retrieve any of those emails from their six month-backup server at the time of the crash, and it's suspicious that they delayed telling Congress when it happened ... I don't think it's surprising that you see a lot of people saying, 'Wait a minute, something about this doesn't really add up to me.'"
