New England Patriots defensive tackle Vince Wilfork became a real-life hero in the hours after winning the AFC Championship. Wilfork happened to be one of the first on the scene of an accident featuring a Jeep Wrangler flipped on its side. He took immediate action, Sports Illustrated reports.
New England Patriots defensive tackle Vince Wilfork helped rescue a woman who was trapped in her car after it rolled over near Gillette Stadium following Sunday's AFC Championship Game, Massachusetts State Police said in a release.
Police said when troopers arrived at the scene, Wilfork was "beside the vehicle checking on the operator." The 325-pound DT then used one hand to reach in and lift the woman out of the Jeep Wrangler as police held the driver's door open.
A Boston Herald reporter tweeted Wilfork's explanation for why he choose to intervene.
Just asked Vince Wilfork about saving someone from a car wreck last night: "I saw somebody that needed help, and I helped."
