"The View" co-host Joy Behar revealed Wednesday that she named her new puppy "Bernie" after Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.).
Sanders joined the ladies of the ABC talk show, where Behar appeared excited to tell the Vermont senator about her new canine friend.
"Let's forget health care and all that and let's get to the real reason we are here today," Behar said to Sanders, a self-declared democratic socialist.
"I want you to meet my new dog and I named him Bernie after you," Behar said.
A small, white, fully dog was then brought on stage.
"Are you happy with the name Bernie?" Behar asked.
"Oh, absolutely," Sanders said. "It looks like a very smart dog to me."
