Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush took it to MSNBC's Morning Joe hosts and their obsession with Washington when asked yet again by one of its panelists about the Republican Party's future, saying they clubbed the subject matter like a "baby seal on the rocks."
This was prompted by New York Times reporter Jeremy Peters, who offered a tired question to Bush about how he thought the party can overcome its inner battles to re-capture national popularity.
Bush discussed the majority of governor seats held by Republicans and said the party won when it focused on a positive agenda, not when it was so reactive to what goes on in Washington.
"Much of what goes on in Washington is completely irrelevant to the lives of every-day people," Bush said. "It's just amazing. I watch your show. It's like a baby seal on the rocks. You just club this thing over and over again."
Host Joe Scarborough joked back that he wondered why Bush would tune in to the show to watch a baby seal get its head bashed in every day.
