Ellison's Must Read of the Day

My must read of the day is "Embattled Minn. Health Exchange Chief Resigns," in the Associated Press:

The chief of Minnesota's health insurance marketplace resigned Tuesday after facing criticism over the troubled rollout and a questionably timed international vacation.

April Todd-Malmlov submitted her resignation during an emergency closed session of the government board of MNsure, Minnesota's version of the insurance exchange that's tied to the federal health care overhaul. She had been under increasing pressure over insurance sign-up problems and failed to get a vote of confidence from Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton last week.

We are supposed to believe that this resignation wasn’t about the incompetent failings of the state exchange but about the questions over her Costa Rica trip. She left the country for vacation just as the biggest project of her career wasn’t working for those in her state. And she wasn’t fired; she resigned.

The fact that this passes for accountability is infuriating.

Officials tied to the problems with Healthcare.gov are getting a pass for failing to do their jobs. Calling for "heads to roll" over Healthcare.gov seems more and more like wishful thinking.
