President Joe Biden's video announcing his reelection campaign, released Tuesday, represented his agenda as one of unity and peace.
"Freedom, personal freedom, is fundamental to who we are as Americans," Biden said in the video. "We're a country that still believes in honesty and respect, treating each other with dignity."
Biden's praise for freedom and calls for Americans to put aside petty partisanship might sound unfamiliar to those who have followed his rhetoric over the last three years.
"This is not about freedom," Biden said when announcing he would order tens of millions of Americans to get vaccinated. "MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic," he said of his Republican colleagues.
The time Biden told a Michigan factory worker, "You're full of shit" on the campaign trail probably wouldn't classify as an example of treating others with dignity either.
