CNN reporter Jim Acosta asked a question after President Donald Trump's National Defense Authorization Act bill signing on Tuesday, which, according to him, may have violated a directive just issued by White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
After Trump signed the NDAA bill for 2018, Acosta asked about his tweet Tuesday targeting Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D., N.Y.), in which he said she once begged Trump for campaign contributions and would do "anything" for them.
"Mr. President, what did you mean when you said that Kirsten Gillibrand would do anything for a campaign contribution?" Acosta asked.
Trump ignored the question and left the room.
Acosta tweeted afterward that Sanders had just "issued a warning" to him before he asked that question. According to him, she said he may not be allowed into a pool spray again if he asked Trump a question at the bill signing.
"Sorry Sarah, we won't be intimidated," he wrote.
Prior to this morment, @presssec issued a warning to me. She said if I asked a question of Trump at the bill signing "I can't promise you will be allowed into a pool spray again." Sorry Sarah.. we won't be intimidated. https://t.co/RZgJpXpyEg

Acosta has memorably sparred with Sanders, Trump and the administration throughout 2017. Trump has at various points called Acosta "fake news."
