'Morning Joe' Panelist Praises Trump's Use of Diplomacy

December 8, 2017

Washington Post journalist and regular "Morning Joe" guest David Ignatius praised President Donald Trump on Friday for utilizing diplomacy to address foreign policy challenges in Asia and the Middle East.

"I think we're learning again and again of the value of diplomacy, there's simply no way out of the North Korea crisis militarily. Everybody that's looked at that understands that, including the White House," Ignatius said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

Specifically, Ignatius credited Trump's work courting China and Saudi Arabia.

"So you need to be creative with diplomacy, you need to work with the Chinese. Trump's done a good job with opening that channel. Go down that channel.  Trump's done a good job in opening up Saudi Arabia as a potential source of change," he said.

Ignatius then offered a word of caution regarding the United State's relationship with Saudi Arabia  and potential conflict in the Middle East.

"Do that wisely," he said. "Don't blow up the Middle East; use the tools that you got in hand."
