Rubio: If Cuban Government Wasn't Behind Sonic Attacks on Americans, It Knows Who Was

October 24, 2017

Sen. Marco Rubio (R., Fla.) said on Tuesday that given the closely monitored nature of Cuba's society, he's confident the Cuban government is either behind the sonic attacks on U.S. embassy workers, or is at least aware of who is behind the attacks.

Fox News’ Bill Hemmer asked Rubio on Tuesday what could explain the condition of American workers coming back to America with brain damage from the sonic attacks in Havana, the capital city of Cuba.

"Here’s what I’m pretty confident of," Rubio said. "Cuba is the most closed society in the hemisphere, one of the most closely monitored in the world, especially in Havana. There is no way that someone could carry out these number of attacks, with that kind of technology, without the Cubans knowing about it."

"They either did it, or they know who did it," Rubio said.

"Well Castro says they had nothing to do with it," Hemmer said.

"If they didn’t do it, they know who did," Rubio reiterated. "You can’t catch a cab in Cuba without the government knowing if you’re an American working at the Embassy. There is no way someone did this to Americans – 23 of them now at the latest count – and the Cuban government not know who did it. It’s impossible."
