Television analysts are confused about Megyn Kelly's personal rebranding surrounding the launch of her new show, "Megyn Kelly Today."

On the NBC show's premiere Monday, Kelly announced, I'm "not a political animal and I never have been." The pronouncement has baffled veteran network producers, since Kelly grew her career off of political coverage, Page Six reported.

"They spent all that money on this great political anchor and journalist. If you take those things away, what are you paying for?" one industry insider asked.

Some people in the industry are especially confused by the show because "Today's Take" with Al Roker and Tamron Hall, which Kelly's show replaced, was popular.

"If it’s a flop, apart from all the other fallout, it’ll be seen as a waste of Al and Tamron," an industry insider told Page Six.

Reviews for the show have been overwhelmingly negative.
