President Trump's selection for the next director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, former assistant attorney general Christopher Wray, is already drawing praise from unlikely quarters.
Matthew Miller, a sharp critic of the president and a former spokesman for Attorney General Eric Holder, praised Wray's selection.
"Wray probably the best choice from the WH short list. His record in the Bush DOJ deserves scrutiny, but he's a serious, respectable pick," Miller said Wednesday on Twitter.

Senator Richard Blumenthal, a reliable Democrat from Connecticut, also expressed support for the selection on social media.
"FBI nominee Wray has solid credentials - now this job will require independence & guts to stand up to political interference," Blumenthal tweeted.

Even President Omaba's former ethics czar, Norm Eisen, who's been in the news for criticizing Trump, praised the pick.
"[W]ray is a good choice," he said, going on to defend the FBI pick from criticism from some Democrats over Wray's previous representation of former Trump transition chief New Jersey governor Chris Christie.
