House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R., Utah) has invited former FBI Director James Comey to testify before the committee on Wednesday, May 24.
The hearing will be held at 9:30 AM, however, Comey has yet to confirm that he will attend, Politico reports. Comey has turned down past offers to testify before Congressional committees.
One person who is reportedly close to Comey told Politico that the recently fired FBI director does want to testify before a committee.
The same day as the hearing, the FBI is due to turn over documents to the committee. Chaffetz asked the FBI on Tuesday to turn over the supposed memo in which Comey describes President Donald Trump asking him to stop the investigation of former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn.
