President Donald Trump on Saturday praised White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer as a "wonderful human being" and defended him from critics.
Trump made the comments while speaking with Judge Jeanine Pirro on her Fox News show, "Justice With Judge Jeanine."
"You have a level of hostility that's incredible," Trump told Pirro, in an apparent comment on the media's treatment of Spicer and Deputy White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
"It's very unfair. Sarah Huckabee is a lovely young woman. You know Sean Spicer, he is a wonderful human being. He's a nice man," Trump told Pirro.
Pirro repeatedly asked Trump if Spicer would keep his job.
"Is he your press secretary today and tomorrow? Will he be tomorrow?" Pirro asked.
Trump said "yes," and denied that Spicer's job security was in trouble.
"He just gets beat up by these people," Trump explained, before suggesting that his communications staff is criticized "if they're off just a little bit."
Trump said Spicer was "doing a good job" and denied that he was considering removing Spicer from his current role. Trump reportedly considered firing Spicer and replacing him with Fox News commentator Kimberly Guilfoyle, the Washington Free Beacon reported last week.
