Obama Takes Apparent Dig at Voters: 'You Get the Politicians You Deserve'

Former President Barack Obama appeared to indirectly jab President Donald Trump and his supporters during a speech in Milan, Italy on Tuesday, saying that "you get the politicians you deserve."

Obama was delivering a speech at the Seeds and Chips Global Food Innovation Summit followed by a question and answer session with Sam Krass, the former White House chef and nutrition adviser under Obama.

During his speech, the former president took time to discuss democracy and seemed to take a dig at the current president.

"People have a tendency to blame politicians when things don't work, but as I always tell people, you get the politicians you deserve," Obama said to applause.

Obama then knocked those who did not vote.

"And if you don't vote and you don't pay attention, then you'll get policies that don't reflect your interest," he added.

Obama began criticizing Trump when the former business mogul began his 2016 presidential campaign. Since leaving office, Obama has indirectly criticized Trump on immigration, Twitter use, health care, and lack of experience.
